Meta Muse and Grok Bot both give an AI agent its own cloud computer. We compared price, security, platforms and who each one is for, plus the free option that runs on your own machine.
Meta Muse is an errand runner for your personal life. Grok Bot is a team of work agents for your job. Both put the agent on a cloud computer you rent, and they lock that computer very differently. If you want work agents without renting anyone's computer, a free option runs them on your own.
Meta launched Muse on 8 September 2026. SpaceXAI put Grok Bot into beta on 11 August. Within one month, two of the biggest AI labs shipped the same idea: an AI agent that gets a computer of its own in the cloud, signs into your accounts and keeps working after you close the app. A Yahoo Tech piece put it well: same blueprint, different locks.

What Meta Muse is for
Muse is an agent for the errands in your personal life. You ask for a goal, it works through the steps, and it comes back when it needs a yes from you. Reviewers have tested it on booking travel, tracking ticket prices, filling in school forms and turning saved Instagram recipes into a grocery list.
At launch it connects to Gmail, Google Calendar, OpenTable, Facebook, Instagram, Peloton, Plaid for bank data and Link by Stripe for payments. It pays with one time cards, so your real card number never reaches the agent. You reach it from the Muse app on iPhone and Android, on the web, or inside WhatsApp.
The paid plans differ only in how much you can use. Power costs $20 a month for 500 million tokens a week. Maximum costs $100 a month for 3 billion tokens a week. The free tier has a smaller weekly allowance.
What Grok Bot is for
Grok Bot is a team of work agents, called Bots, that behave like colleagues. You message a Bot, it signs into your tools through a normal browser, does the job and reports back. It does not need an official integration, because it uses apps the way you do, with a keyboard, mouse and screen.
Bots can hand work to each other in a shared thread. SpaceXAI’s own teams run a chief of staff Bot that passes jobs to specialists for the inbox, recruiting and bug fixes. Routines let a Bot repeat a job on a schedule. The desktop app runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and there are phone apps.
Grok Bot is growing fast. Bloomberg reported 418,000 weekly users on 14 September, up 24% in a week.
The security difference
Both products rent you a Linux computer in the cloud. The difference is who else shares it.
Muse gives every person an isolated computer. A separate guard called Sentinel sits outside the agent and has to approve anything that goes out to the internet. Your passwords sit in a store the model cannot see, and they are added at the network edge only when a task needs them. Emails and purchases need your approval.
Grok Bot gives your whole account one computer, and every Bot on the account shares it, including its files, browser sessions and logins. SpaceXAI’s FAQ says not to treat separate Bots as a security boundary. If you log into Amazon for your shopping Bot, your recruiting Bot can use that login too.

What you actually pay
Muse is the cheaper way in. The free tier costs nothing, and the top plan is $100 a month.
Grok Bot has no plan of its own. Since 26 August it comes with SuperGrok at $30 a month, SuperGrok Plus at $100, SuperGrok Heavy at $300, and every paid Cursor plan from Cursor Pro at $20. Where Munder Difflin fits
Munder Difflin is not an errand runner. It will not book your flight or clear your inbox, so for that job, pick Muse.
It is closer to Grok Bot: a team of agents that do real work. The difference is where the team lives. Each agent is a real terminal session on your computer running an engine you choose. That can be Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenCode, Grok’s own CLI, or six others, or a local model through Ollama, LM Studio or vLLM. Every agent gets a desk, an inbox, long term memory in plain markdown files, and a shared task board. A circuit breaker steers, constrains and then stops any agent that loops or overspends.
You can hand it jobs from anywhere. A Slack message or a webhook can start a worker that replies in the thread and then shuts down. Missions run on a schedule. For work that should carry on overnight, run it on a Mac mini that stays awake.
The app is free and open source under the MIT licence. You pay only for the engine you already use, or nothing at all if you run it on open models.
