Claude Duet Waitlist: Who Gets In First, and What to Use Meanwhile
How to join the Claude Duet waitlist, who qualifies first (US Pro and Max), what Anthropic says about timing, and three things you can use while you wait.

To join the Claude Duet waitlist, open Anthropic’s Claude Duet page and press Join the waitlist. Access starts with Pro and Max subscribers in the US, and Anthropic emails you when Duet is ready for you. It has not given a date.
Claude Duet is Anthropic’s proactive agent app, opened as a research preview on 21 Oct 2026 (what is Claude Duet?). This page uses Anthropic’s announcement and product page, both opened on 22 Oct 2026.
Who can join the Claude Duet waitlist?
US subscribers on Pro or Max come first. The announcement says “we’re starting today with Pro and Max users in the US.” The product page adds: “Claude Duet is a research preview on a waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet.”

| Your situation, 22 Oct 2026 | What Anthropic says |
|---|---|
| Pro or Max, in the US | First in line for the research preview |
| Free plan | Duet is included in Pro and Max plans |
| Team or Enterprise | “not included yet” |
| Outside the US | Starting with the US; no date for elsewhere |
How do you join and get in?
Four steps: two you do now, one wait, and one when the email arrives. Open the Claude Duet page, press Join the waitlist, then wait for Anthropic’s email. Once you are in, Duet “is a standalone app for iOS and Android. On a computer, you can open it on the web at claude.ai.”

Setup after that is light. Duet “carries over your memory, skills, and connected apps from your Claude account, so setting it up requires minimal work.” Connect the apps you want it to watch before your invite lands; Anthropic says Duet can use “the over 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace.”
How long will the wait be?
Nobody outside Anthropic knows. The announcement gives no timeline, only “we’ll email as soon as Claude Duet’s ready for you.” It also says what Anthropic learns from early users “will shape how the two work together”, meaning Duet and the main Claude app, so expect changes during the preview.
Two things are worth knowing before your invite arrives. First, Duet’s background checks count toward your plan’s usage limits, so a heavy Claude Code week and Duet share one pool. Second, Anthropic calls this an early version that “may misread a thread or miscalibrate what’s urgent, and it can miss something that arrives between checking in with you.”
What will Claude Duet do once you are in?
It comes to you first. Each morning it sends “a short brief on the most important items across your connected apps”, and through the day it messages you only when something needs your attention. You talk to it in one ongoing thread, by typing or by voice, and hand it tasks from scheduling a meeting to building a dashboard or a sales forecast.
It works in a virtual machine with its own browser, so your laptop and phone can be off, and you get a notification when a task is done or needs review. Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows you exactly what it is about to do and waits for your approval. Trading securities and moving money between accounts are off limits even with approval.
What should you set up before your invite?
Three small things. First, connect the apps you want Duet to watch in your Claude account, since it carries them over. Second, decide what you want to hear about: Anthropic says “you can also tell it what you want to hear about and how often.” Third, look at your usage page now, so you can see what Duet’s checks add once it starts.
What can you use while you wait?
Three things work today. Claude Cowork is in paid Claude plans now, and its help page says scheduled tasks “run in the cloud, with no device online.” Munder Difflin is free and open source: a desktop app that runs a team of AI agents for all kinds of knowledge work, coding included, on your own computer, with schedules and Slack. Claude Code covers work inside your repository.

Our view: if you want a team of agents, you do not need to wait at all. Build your own Claude Duet sets up a daily brief of pull requests, failing checks and new issues, and Claude Duet alternatives lists four proactive agents with no waitlist. To try Munder Difflin, follow the install guide.
FAQ
How long is the Claude Duet waitlist?
Anthropic has not said. Its announcement of 21 Oct 2026 says only that it is starting with Pro and Max users in the US and will email you as soon as Claude Duet is ready for you. Any wait time you read elsewhere is a guess.
Can I join the Claude Duet waitlist from outside the US?
Anthropic says the research preview starts with Pro and Max subscribers in the US. It does not give a date for other countries. If you are elsewhere, the open source alternatives on this page have no region limit.
Is Claude Duet on Team or Enterprise plans?
Not yet. The product page says Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet. During the preview, Duet is included in Pro and Max plans.
Does Claude Duet cost extra?
Not during the research preview. Anthropic says it is included in Pro and Max plans and uses the same usage limits as the rest of Claude, and its background checks count toward those limits.
